Maldives Trip Part 1

It's so hard to decide where to go for our anniversary in December but finally, Robin and I decided to go to Maldives! Yay! Was pretty busy at work and I needed a break!

The Maldives is a tropical nation in the Indian Ocean composed of 26 coral atolls, which are made up of hundreds of islands. It’s known for its beaches, blue lagoons and extensive reefs. For more information, you can the official website for the Maldives Tourism Board (http://www.visitmaldives.com/en).

Our flight to Maldives from Singapore was about 4 hours plus. There is a time difference of 3 hours.

Goodbye Singapore :)

Some photos taken when we were about to land in Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (that's the full name of the main international airport in the Maldives). Do choose the window seat if you can. The view is amazing!

 The airport area.

USD is widely accepted in Maldives although the Maldivian Rufiyaa is the currency of Maldives.

My lunch. Robin had Burger King.

See the clear blue sea? So nice!

We took the public ferry instead of the speedboat. Haiz. I would recommend taking the speedboat. It is much faster and more convenient. The public ferry to Male cost USD1 per person. Do note that the public ferry is not operating on Fridays.

 The ferry which we took.
In the ferry.

The ferry will bring us to Male. When we reached Male, we got to take a taxi to Villingili Ferry Terminal. The taxi ride took about 10 minutes and cost USD2. Our hotel is located on Maafushi Island so we bought the ferry tickets to Maafushi Island. The ferry tickets to Maafushi Island cost USD2 per person. The ferry to Maafushi Island will depart at 3pm, Maldives time. There is only one schedule.

We were pretty early so we went to eat and drink something nearby. We went to Sea House Brasserie. It is a pretty nice place :) However, the waiter gave us our bill once we have finished eating. So weird. We haven't even asked for the bill yet.

My waffle with maple syrup. I like!

Robin had his waffle with strawberry ice-cream.

Can pay in USD or MVR (Maldivian Rufiyaa).

Our ferry tickets.

I think we took around 1.5 hours by the public ferry to reach Maafushi Island. Fell asleep in the ferry. The staff from Beachwood Hotel (http://thebeachwoodhotels.com) came to pick us up at the ferry place where we alighted and took us to the hotel. It's about a 15 minute walk.

 Our hotel.

The activities available. The prices are in USD.

Didn't find any surprise in our room. I think that Robin did inform them that it's our anniversary. Conclusion: Both of us suck at doing/planning surprises =.=

Had dinner at the hotel. I really don't recommend eating there. My chicken was so hard. It's so difficult to eat it.

Look at Robin's carbonara spaghetti. It really doesn't look appetizing right? I tried the food.. Really not nice!
